Debriefing

Well here i am in Pokhara, Nepal. We have been here for 9 or so days. We have been doing the same village ministry and just hanging out building relationships with the people here. We have been staying in the Lake View Resort. Pokhara is more of a tourist stop for the travelers just passing through or just hanging out. The pace here is much slower and not as many horns are going off to disrupt your thoughts. I had the opportunity to go hiking and mountain biking here. A couple of the guys tried to teach the mountain a lesson by throwing them selves down and only resulting in pain! The whole experience was awesome and the views are breath taking. I have only been able to get a quick glimps of the Himilayas that have been so far a giant hiding itself from us. When i saw them i almost couldn't believe my eyes. I wish that we were here later in the season just so we could get a glimps of those distant giants. Im going to miss nepal. The people have been very hospitable and accomodating. Im nerveous for going home but all good things must come to an end. Like my leader said "Bang That Crap Out" so i did my best and "Banged That Crap Out". Soon ill be home and back in the states. It feels like im leaving home, leaving nepal. Im leaving a little heart behind. Ill have one more post for you all when i get home.

Kathmandu, Nepal Thamel District

Well here i am in Nepal. I arrived last week on Tuesday after a long 15 hour flight and a 12 hour layover in New Delhi, India. The culture here is rich, as well as the smells. Some of them not as pleasant as others but alot of the smell is incense and food. The not so pleasant smells are garbage and cow, and dog poop!!! The past week i have been here we have gone to the monkey temple, Hindu temple where they cremate bodys and dump the ashes in the river and sometimes bathe in it (dumping the ashes in the river symbolizes that by doing so as the ashes flow down the river their soul will go to heaven....wow sure), i saw the kumari she looks very unhappy (she is a little girl who they see as a god, when she hits puberty they get rid of her and get a new kumari...sad) we did our first day of ministry in a small village out side of kathmandu in the hills. That was awesome i got to talk with a shop owner for a while. He gave me tea (which was amazing) and we just talked and i shared with him my faith in God. I learned that he wants to be a poultry farmer and to start a farm you need 1000 chickens!!!  I have 20 chickens and i thought that was alot. The streets are very packed and disorganized. You have people driving on all sides of the road and passing each other by inches. Its crazy! The motorcycle is the best way of transport here. You don't have alot of room to move around the streets are no more that 12 feet wide and you have people walking down them, cars, trucks, and motorcycles driving down them all at the same time going all different ways. Its fun. Well its time for lunch so i will talk to you all in a while hope everything is well.

Butterflies

This morning as i woke up i could hear the house creaking with the wind. Its going to be a windy day. I got everything ready to go except for a couple last minute things i need to get before i leave. Laundry detergent and a small mirror so i can put my contacts in. Im nerveous and little scared to be completly honest. I havn't ever been on a trip like this before but im excited to see what is going to happen. I probably won't be able to post for a couple weeks until i get into Nepal. I fly into Katmandu, then from there im not quite sure where i am going. All i know is that i will be going to the orpanages and spending time with the kids there, going to their schools and just being with them. I will aslo be doing street ministrie. Man i tell you what the more i think about going the more those butterflies start flapping in my stomach. I can't wait to post again and let you guys know how im doing. Well my plane leaves at 11:25 and it takes an hour to get there and its almost 9. Thats right i live on the edge i cut things close. Ill talk to you all next time.
